Congratulations Tracey – NZIPP Regional Photographer of the Year for 2010

It is with great delight that we congratulate and celebrate the latest achievement of our President, Tracey Robinson.

Tracey has been a member of the Rotorua Camera Club for the past few years, and President for 2010. As a full time professional photographer Tracey has been incredibly generous with her time, knowledge and experience for the Club and it’s members. Not many professionals would do the same and it is very much appreciated by us all. She’s spent countless hours schooling members  in both camera and computer technique as well as inspiring and leading the Club.

Over the past few years Tracey’s talent and drive has resulted in a growing number of successes at more and more prestigious competitions both in New Zealand and on the World scene. From a predominately New Zealand base of successes in 2008, Tracey’s awards this year (2010) have hailed from USA, Spain, France, Wales and Finland.

Two successes more recognisable to us all, however, lie closer to home this year. In January Tracey earned the highest honour in the Photographic Society of New Zealand system and is now a Fellow of the PSNZ, sitting firmly amongst the elite of the Society.  Achieving a Fellowship requires originality of idea, technical excellence and a huge amount of work producing an even but exceptional set of 18 images that sit comfortably with each other but fit within a tight brief.  Tracey’s set based on “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” did exactly that and also gave many a lesson in both photography and processing. Each photograph contained work from many photographic genres, from landscape to portraiture, that was skillfully managed in post processing to become a visually compelling narrative in its own right. One was a mission, eighteen was amazing!

Not content with sorting the PSNZ Honours, Tracey has immersed herself in the NZIPP this year (New Zealand Institute of Professional Photographers) steadily amassing honours with her images there at both Regional and National level. Being a professionally based organisation NZIPP is demanding in it’s quest for excellence from its members. Work is “open judged” by a panel of peers at meetings and scored.  At the NZIPP Iris awards in Queenstown she was rewarded with 4 Bronze and 1 Silver medal. On top of this we’re absolutely delighted to hear that with her excellent work regionally she has just been awarded the NZIPP Regional Photographer of the Year for 2010.  Congratulations Tracey!
