AGM Update
Hi everyone,
Thank you everyone who attended the AGM last Wednesday. It was a productive meeting and we are set up for a good year with a strong committee and a small increase in subs to ensure the club can run well and smoothly.
Thank you to Julie for all your work as retiring President, to Jill as past Secretary, Raechel as past Treasurer, and Alan as past committee member. Thank you also to those of you staying on our committee and especially welcome to the new committee members joining us.
Our 2018 committee:
President John Ford
Vice President Warren Houston
Secretary Anne Riddle
Treasurer Rachel Black
Committee
Julie Hill
Kathryn Bloor (Competition Secretary)
Raewyn Connelly
Wendy Allen
Raechel Leishman
Dianna Adlam
Karen McLeod
Mike Taylor
2018 Subs are now due and they are as follows:
Single Adult $70.00
Couple: $90.00
Youth (aged 18 -25) $30.00
Youth (under 18) $10.00
Please pay subs to the club bank account either online to Rotorua Camera Club 03-1552-0140831-00 and put your names in the particulars section and Sub 2018 in the Reference section. Or you can deposit into the account at any Westpac Bank branch. Ask them at the bank to put your name on the reference. If you do that please confirm your payment by email to treasurer@rotoruacamera.co.nz so we know who made that deposit.
For those of you who stayed around on Wednesday night we had fun with burning steel wool. Some images are already on the Club facebook page. Well done Sarah for organising that and for your assistance Adrian.
The Laurie Thomas Salon is now open until 25th May for New Zealand Landscapes at: https://lauriethomassalon.com
And Canon Online Round Two closes on 25th April https://photography.org.nz/salons/canon-online/ This is a chance for everyone to see how their images might go against the best in New Zealand. There is a cost of $32 for entering the Laurie Thomas salon for four images, but no cost for the one image you can enter in Canon Online.
The PSNZ Conference is also on in Dunedin from 19th to 22nd April see it at https://photography.org.nz/ under events.
Next month’s set subject for our club is Abstract defined as: Abstract photography focuses on shape, form, colour, pattern and texture. It seems to show the subjects essence, not the reality.
We are also hoping to have a field trip later this month to catch the sunrise over misty valleys on my farm – more information to follow, after our committee meeting next week.
In the meantime, there will be some great photography opportunities in Rotorua with Pipe Band Championship here in Rotorua this weekend, and Crankworx this month from the 17th to 25th.
Remember “f8 and be there”
John
